"Are you sure about this?"

Kagome nodded, offering a gentle smile to the hanyou at her side. "It's not my home anymore, Inuyasha. After all that's happened, I belong here. I'll miss my family, but I know in my heart that this is the right decision. For all of us."

They turned to the other woman in the clearing with them. She looked slightly uncomfortable and a bit sad, but determined. Reaching out, Kagome touched her hand. "My mom's expecting you; she'll help you get settled. Make my life a good one."

Nodding her promise, Kikyo jumped into the well.

This was a newer idea and less thought out than some of my other ones. I just thought it was an interesting concept, and so I wrote it. Kikyo is supposed to be more as she was when she was alive, breathing and less hell-focused, I mean.

The biggest factor in this was my feelings on how hard it would be for Kagome to fit into her old life once the whole quest was over with. I think Kikyo would have a good chance of passing for Kagome since everyone's always saying how much alike they look. It would work especially well if Kagome had taken a bit of time off from her world for a lengthy stay in the feudal era.
